Peter Thomson Moore, Age 74, passed away unexpectedly on October 03, 2022, in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He was surrounded by loved ones and will leave behind an incredible legacy. He will be remembered as an outstanding servant to our country, his community, and as beloved husband, father and friend.
Peter was born in New York City on April 23, 1948. He was the son of Alan (Al) Moore and Grace Sanderson Moore. He was raised in North Miami Beach, Florida.
Peter pursued the highest goals in education. After graduating from the University of Miami, he went on to pursue a Master of Business Administration from the University of Hartford and later received a Doctorate of Economics from Yale.
Peter was an American patriot. In 1966 he enlisted in the Navy, served 2 tours In Vietnam and received multiple decorations and awards. But his ardent love of his country didn’t end there. He dearly loved the Navy UDT/SEAL community and committed countless resources and effort building the legacy of Naval Special Warfare. He focused this dedication on completely renovating, expanding and improving the National Navy UDT/SEAL Museum in Fort Pierce Florida. Peter’s passion was unmatched. Without his tireless efforts, the Navy SEAL Museum would not be the premiere facility it is today.
Peter was a strong man, a natural athlete who loved swimming, various water sports, and golf; He loved the ocean, collecting shells, nature and was incredibly dedicated to his most recent position as head of the MPOA at the Admirals Cove in Jupiter, Florida.
Mr. Moore is survived by his beloved wife, the former Marcia Damon Gibbs. Peter and Marcia shared the grace of life in marriage for 35 years. He is also survived by his 4 children; sons, Alan (Brooke) Moore, Andrew (Sara) Moore, Taylor (Kelsey) Moore, and daughter, Melanie (Jacob) Platt; 5 grandchildren, Lilly Moore, Blair Moore, Ava Moore, Julia Moore and Maxwell Moore; brothers, Alan Moore, Kenneth (Suzanne) Moore and Sister Valerie (Doug) Lasko; nephew, Michael Connor Moore and nieces, Emily Grace Moore and Melissa Burnett. He was an animal lover who is leaving behind his beloved Dachshunds Gretchen and Bella Moore.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at 11am on Monday, November 21 at The Navy SEAL Museum, 3300 N A1A Fort Pierce, FL 34949. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Navy SEAL Museum in Fort Pierce, Florida and Furry Friends Animal Rescue in Jupiter, Florida.
The MPOA and Club will continue to honor Peter’s memory by establishing the “Peter Moore Admirals Cove Scholarship“ with the Admirals Cove Foundation. The inaugural Peter Moore ACES scholarship will be given in March 2023 and all Members are invited to attend. Please help to fund this scholarship for years to come with a donation of any amount.
