On February 12, 2023, Michael “Gene” Mulligan passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Gene was raised on a potato farm in Prince Edward Island, Canada and hitchhiked his way to the USA in 1964 where he wanted to attend night school to finish his education. He attended Russell Sage College in Albany, NY and graduated with his degree in Business Administration.
Gene had a successful career in sales and operations in the banking and automotive industry and was the Branch Manager of Hobart Corporation in Albany, NY when he left to fulfill his dream of owning his own business. In 1982, he opened his business known today as Juicernet by Mulligan Associates, Inc. Juicernet is an exclusive partner of worldwide manufacturers of commercial juicers and pineapple corers. Forty years later, the business continues to run strong and his legacy and hard work will be carried on by his team. He was very business savvy and a true entrepreneur!
Gene was known by all for his strong faith in our Lord Jesus and you could always find a rosary in his pocket. He has been described by many as generous, kind, welcoming, thoughtful, lovable, an example setter, character builder, a strong family man, and an incredible powerful light. The friendships and relationships he built over the years are countless. His passion for classic cars, golfing, and traveling or cruising around the world made his life complete and at every party you could expect to hear Gene use his favorite saying, “Are we having fun yet!?!?!?!”
Gene is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Bonnie (Loucks) Mulligan; his former wife, Sheila (Lambe) Mulligan and their four children, Patrick Mulligan of Boynton Beach, FL, Colleen (Chris) Deselms of Lake Worth, FL, Michele (Larry) Volke of Tavares, FL, and Michael (Katie) Mulligan of Alpharetta, GA; three precious grandchildren, Brady, Meghan and Sean; his brother, John (Julie) Mulligan of Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada; two Godsons, Reg McCarvill of Charlottetown, PEI and Alex Varsanyi of Albany, NY; as well as countless cousins, nieces and nephews as the result of being an Irish Catholic man!
He is predeceased by his father, Louis Vincent Mulligan; his mother, Patricia (Murphy) Mulligan; his brother Elmer Mulligan; two sisters, Adelaide Lambe and Mary Bradley; and a grandson, Edward Deselms.
