Gardens Medical Center. He was born in Bronx, NY on December 4, 1924; the son of the late
Harry and Helen Weinberg.
Mel served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked as the head of security at
Louis Vuitton for 15 years before his retirement.
Mel was a major influence in the FBI’s, “Abscam”, which prompted the book, “The Stingman” and the 2013 movie, “American Hustle.”
He is predeceased by a daughter, Donna Wandel; a son, Richard Weinberg and former spouses,
Mary O’Conner and Cynthia Marie Weinberg.
He is survived by a daughter, Debbie Hughes; a son, Mel Weinberg Jr. (JR); his former spouse,
Evelyn Weinberg; as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Service for Mel will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2018 at 11:30 am at Cedar Park & Beth El Cemeteries, 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus, NJ. The Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, Jupiter, FL has been entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars or to your local Animal Rescue/Humane Society.
