Born in the Bronx, NY to a proud Irish American family, Maureen, the middle child of James and Mary Foley, learned early on that embracing humility and a strong work ethic were paramount throughout life's journey to achieve success and contentment.
Orphaned at 17, Maureen worked to support herself throughout her teenage years and later married Bob O'Sullivan. Together they raised three children: Kevin (Minde), Stephen (Michelle) and Tracy (Todd Walker). Their lives centered around grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins while they lived in Woodbury, New York; family was always very important to Maureen and she instilled that value in her children throughout their lives.
The O'Sullivan's moved from New York to Jupiter, FL in 1982. Based on Maureen's unparalleled work ethic and determination, she obtained her commercial real estate brokers license soon thereafter. With that, she achieved significant success due to her perseverance and grit. The value of family that she instilled in her kids was always present after the move to Jupiter as Maureen's brother and sister-in-law along with life-long friends from her childhood followed the O'Sullivan's to Jupiter for many seasons to come.
In her later years, Maureen married and enjoyed a wonderful life with her 2nd husband, Dennis O'Keefe. Together, they traveled the world, bought and managed many properties, built and loved their North Carolina lake home, and created an incredible amount of memories together. All the while, their children (Timmy O'Keefe, Kevin, Stephen and Tracy O'Sullivan) and their grandchildren (Kayley O'Keefe, Shannon, Sean, Payton and Finn O'Sullivan) were their first priorities.
Despite having experienced extreme sadness and challenges throughout her life, Maureen achieved considerable success and personal growth. Her selflessness, generosity, character, work ethic, and empathy were staple characteristics of her personality. While an introvert at first impression, Maureen was at her core a social butterfly with a fierce business acumen, a giving and empathetic heart and a unique style that exuded beauty from the inside out. Simply stated, she was one of a kind.
Maureen is predeceased by her parents, her sister Regina Keely, her brother and sister-in-law Pat and Tom Foley, her husband Dennis, her Godson Tommy Foley and her nephew Danny Foley. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who could not be more proud to call her Mom, Grandma, and Aunt.
Her friendships spanned decades, her colleagues respected her tenacity, and most importantly, her children learned life's most important lessons from her. There will never be another Queen Bee like our Mom, and we will be forever grateful that she was ours.
Maureen's life will be celebrated on her birthday, Thursday, January 26 at Aycock Funeral Home in Jupiter, FL. Visiting hours will be between 4pm - 6pm with services starting at 6pm. Her children request everyone wear a bit (or a whole lot) of color to celebrate both Mom's vibrant spirit and her birthday in a special way.
