Mary Lou Miller, a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandma, great grandma and friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on September 15, 2024, at the age of 79 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Born on June 15, 1945, in Queens, NY, Mary Lou was a graduate of Hempstead High School. She worked at Frederick Harris Engineering Firm in the 1970s, as a Vero Typist; it was there that she met her husband, Ronald Miller, with whom she shared 47 wonderful years of marriage.
Mary Lou was known for her boundless enthusiasm for life and her great sense of humor. She had a deep passion for painting and drawing, reading and indulging in everything from the novels of Danielle Steel to the thrillers of James Patterson. Her love for music, especially Elvis, classic movies and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, were just a few of the many ways she enriched her life and the lives of those around her. Her backyard was her sanctuary, where she enjoyed entertaining friends and family, swimming in the pool, savoring her morning coffee, talking on the phone and enjoying the scenery.
Family was at the heart of Mary Lou's world. She was a devoted mother who attended every school luncheon, sporting event, and school play, cheering on her daughters Kellie and Krista with unwavering support. Her joy and laughter were infectious, and her presence at family gatherings was a source of warmth and happiness.
Mary Lou is survived by her husband, Ronald Miller, her daughters Kellie Miller and husband Michael LaMastra, and Krista Miller and wife Jessica Rommel, her step daughters Jacqueline Oberst and Lisa Miller and their families and her sisters Dale Kuveikis and Barbara O’Connor and their families. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who cherished her dearly. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Mildred (Hattan) O'Connor, and her brothers Richard, Jack, and William O'Connor.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, honoring Mary Lou’s memory and supporting the fight against this challenging disease. See link below. A Celebration of life will be held in November.
Mary Lou Miller's legacy of love, joy, laughter and resilience will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
