82, of Jupiter, FL passed away at home on June 8, 2017. Jon was born in Goshen, Indiana on December 2, 1934. At 16, he enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in Iceland, Greenland, Germany and the North Pole (Fletcher's Ice Island also known as T3 Island), where he served 8 years as a radio operator. He then became a Staff Sergeant in Rockford, IL serving as the Air Force's youngest recruiting officer. In 1962 he graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in Real Estate. He later moved to Florida in 1968 and became a Developer, starting his own company Urban Land & Development until his retirement in 1998.
Jon enjoyed traveling, reading, computers and electronics. He funded a chair for geriatrics at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN in the name of his grandfather Willard L. Stephenson. Jon was a very generous philanthropist contributing to La Amistad Foundation, the Indiantown Library, Jupiter Medical Center, Mayo Clinic and University of Wisconsin to name a few.
He will be greatly missed by his daughters Susan Oswald, Tracy Bem and Kelly Oswald; his sister Diane Cripe and husband John Cripe and nephew Ronald Cripe; grandchildren Nicholle Bem and Codi Bem; nieces Stephanie Shelby, Kathryn Wright, Lorraine Michaels and Jeanine Oswald; Preceded in death by parents Jeanne Stephenson Reed, John William Oswald, Jr. and stepfather Forest Emerson Reed, PhD., his brother James Randolph Oswald, his son Douglas Jon Oswald, nephews Richard Scott Cripe and Jamie Oswald.

A visitation will be held on Friday from 12-1 PM with services at 1 PM, Aycock-Riverside Funeral Home, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter.
