George Herbert Hartwig Jr.

George met his wife Annette Sue Gilbert at the Brooklyn Christian church, Cleveland, Ohio on May 4, 1957, married as teenage sweethearts. They just celebrated their 65 anniversary.

They had three children, George Herbert III, Ruth Annette and David Elliott.

In 1965 the family moved from Cleveland, Ohio to Deerfield Beach, Florida, as George was hired on the Deerfield Beach Police Dept. In 1969 he made a career change and became a Deerfield Beach Firefighter for 19 years. He retired in 1988 as a Battalion Chief and paramedic.

At the time of his passing, he was a member of Beacon Baptist Church, Jupiter, FL. He was passionate about sharing the love of our Lord Jesus with others. He was a loyal servant of God, and we should remember that while this is the end of this life on earth he lives on in heaven because at 42 years of age he realized he needed a savior and accepted Jesus into his heart and that's the beginning of an eternal and beautiful life.

George leaves behind his Loving wife, three children, eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and a brother, plus many other family members, friends and neighbors.

George was a very loving, kind and gentle person who loved his family, and he was always willing to help others.

His favorite hymn was "it Is Well With My soul!" § his favorite Bible verse was John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
