JUPITER, Fla. – Betsy C. Talbot, 86, died Thursday, June 30, at her home.
She was born Elizabeth Codman Nichols on Sept. 8, 1924, in Boston, Mass.
On Aug. 23, 1947, she married Herbert “Bud” Talbot in Colorado Springs, Colo. He died Aug. 12, 1995.
Betsy attended Beaver Country Day School in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
She was a competitive figure skater and U.S. Novice Ladies Champion and later became a figure skating coach, followed by a long career as a figure skating judge, both nationally and internationally. She was named an honorary national judge by the U.S. Figure Skating Association in 2005.
She enjoyed playing golf and spending summers at her home in West Harwich, Mass.
Survivors include two daughters, Judith Talbot of South Weymouth, Mass., and Cori McKnight and her husband, Bill, of Palm Beach Gardens and West Harwich; a son, Toby Talbot and his wife, Dale Schaft, of Calais, Vt.; a sister, Nancy Roggeveen of West Hartford, Conn.
A memorial gathering will be held in Jupiter in November
