Ed’s primary interest include reading, book collecting and History. He was Past Master of Garden #366 Masonic Lodge, Past Potentate of Amara Shrine; Royal Order of Jesters Court 179, and one year named Outstanding Citizen of North Highlands CA and was a member of various civic and fraternal organizations. He proudly served and retired from the USAF (served 1 year in Saigon) and retired as a Special Agent of the Department of Defense. Ed developed and was an Historian of the Shriner History Center at Amara in Palm Beach Gardens, gathering some unique items of the Shrine and other fraternal masonic related organizations. Ed was a man of integrity and many accomplishments.
He is predeceased by his first wife, Joanne B. Elgin; a son, Edward “Russ” Elgin, Jr.; two sisters, Laura Blanche Elgin Anderson and Carolyn Jean Elgin Barnett.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia Elgin; his son, John W. Elgin; four grandchildren, Jonathan, Amanda, Alina and Julia and a great grandson, Teddy.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Aycock-Riverside Funeral Home, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, FL 33458. A service will take place at the funeral home at 11:00 am, followed by burial at Riverside Memorial Park in Tequesta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edwards’s name to the Amara Shrine Children’s Hospital Transportation Fund, 1900 Palm Beach Lakes Blvd., West Palm Beach, FL 33409.
