With heavy hearts we announce the unexpected passing of Dorotea Carollo (Dora), 77, on November 21, 2023 in Jupiter, Florida, from a massive heart attack. Dora was born on July 7, 1946, in Palermo City, Italy. For 22 years, she resided with her father, Stefano Adelfio (deceased), mother, Marianna Maone (deceased), and younger siblings, Giuseppe and Salvatore (deceased).
In 1969, Dora married her beloved husband, Giuseppe (Joe) Carollo (deceased) and moved to Queens, New York. They lived in Whitestone for 47 beautiful years. She has two proud daughters, Gina and Maryana. Dora was involved with the Italian community of St. Luke’s Church and shared her culture with many friends. She was an amazingly talented seamstress, with golden hands, and also worked with her husband at Carollo’s Bakery in Jackson Heights, for 36 years. In 2021, she moved to Jupiter, Florida.
Dora is survived by her two daughters and four grandchildren, who adored her immensely. She left behind her elder daughter, Gina Carollo Savoca (husband Giovanni), their children Luigi (33) and Dorotea (29), and her younger daughter, Maryana Carollo Grgas (husband Vladimir), their children, Angelica (17) and Victoria (17). Gioia Mia, her loyal Maltipoo pet, gave her companionship and love till the end. Her passing left a great void for many including, her aunt Concetta Maone, and her dear friend Caterina Mansueto.
She was gifted with an enormous heart and a wonderful sense of humor, and was known for her profound faith in God. Prayer was an essential part of her daily routine. Dora was always the life of the party, was generous, loyal, and brave to all who knew her. She was called a “Firecracker,” known for her one liner responses. Her uplifting spirit in which she shared, encouraged many through her virtual messages and phone calls every morning and evening. Her passion impacted many lives. Dora’s smile and beauty was so stunning, it would light up the whole room. She will be forever missed. Until we meet again.
An inspirational quote she love and shared was, “Mangia Bene, Ridi Spesso, Ama Molto,” which means in translation, “Eat Well, Laugh Often, Love Much.”
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, FL 33458. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Peter Catholic Church, 1701 Indian Creek Parkway, Jupiter, FL 33458. A committal service will follow at Riverside Memorial Park, 19351 SE County Line Road, Tequesta, FL 33469.
