Dolores Rosemary Gullia Tornambé was born in Cleveland Ohio. Daughter of Theodore Albert and Thelma Gullia of Shaker Heights, Ohio. She was a graduate of Beaumont School for Girls and attended Marymount College in NY and St Vincent Charity Hospital School of Nursing. On September 10, 1958, Dolores married Dr. Louis Joseph Tornambé of Ravanusa, Italy. Dr. Tornambé was educated abroad, received his medical degree from the University of Catania, and completed his OBGYN residency at St Ann’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the LOVE of her life! Tragically, Dr. Tornambé passed away suddenly on December 24, 1972.
Louis and Dolores pre-deceased 4 children; Louis Joseph Tornambé Jr and wife Cara of Colorado, Theodore Albert Tornambé of Alabama, Mark Anthony Tornambé and wife Chela Tornambé of Florida, and daughter Panna Maria Tornambé of Florida. She loved and left granddaughters Kristin Tornambé-Green and husband Tom Green, Genesis Rodriguez, Carli Tornambe, and grandsons Mark Tornambé Jr, Louis Joseph Tornambé III, and great grandson Kai Tornambé. Dolores also predeceased her “favorite” brother, Theodore A. Gullia, Jr of Cleveland, Ohio.
When Dolores moved to Jupiter in 1973, she continued in the medical field working as an office manager for local doctors and volunteering for years as a medic on the Jupiter/Tequesta Ambulance. She loved her tennis team, having parties, baking at the holidays, and floating in the pool on Sundays!! She continued to raise her 4 children with the help of her parents who then lived in Ocean Walk, Jupiter. Many years later, her beloved Great Aunt Rose Rasmussen moved in with her mother and Dolores helped to care for them along with the help of her brother Ted. Dolores did marry again and ultimately divorced. Through it all, she continued to be an anchor for her family.
Not only was she the Matriarch of her tribe and ruled with a golden fist…she was the mother many never had! Being a very early resident of Jupiter, Florida in 1973… she watched the town grow and helped to rear many of its residents. A 30+ year resident of Jonathan’s Landing, her home was opened to all, and she was a Hostess Extraordinaire! Never one to miss a party and often the one being the “Hostess with the Mostest” – friends and her other many children knew her as Dolores Delog the toast of Chicag!”
Her second love after Lou was Frank, as in “Ole Blue Eyes” Sinatra. Of course, she adored dancing and music. She attended live theatre and dined with friends in local Jupiter spots. Bridge games and movies were a weekly event. She was a huge supporter of homeless animals and often volunteered on their behalf. She will be excited to meet and play with all her babies that have gone over the Rainbow Bridge and will indeed be thrilled to dance again with Lou! Dolores passed peacefully in her sleep on September 12, 2021, at Brookdale Senior Living Facility in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
