David Scott Wood passed away peacefully at home on February 7th, 2024 due to long term health complications. He was 87. David was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 11, 1936 to Lewis John Wood II and Nelle Brewer Wood. The family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana when he was six.
He graduated from Indiana University with a B.S. in Business Administration/Finance and an M.B.A. in Business and Economics. He was a devoted member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. David also served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Artillery Strike Force.
David was the Founder and Chairman of David Wood Personnel, which had offices throughout South Florida, for fifty-seven years. He loved finding jobs for people, and was proud that his company placed over 60,000 individuals in various jobs. He was also the author of The Best Resume Book.
He was an active member in the community and had a leadership role in many local activities and organizations ranging from business to education and the arts. He served two terms as State Board Chairman of the American Diabetes Association.
David is survived by his loving wife of twenty-three years, Christine; his brother, John and daughters, Jessica (Bryan), Kimberly (Cole) and stepdaughter, Keri (Peter); as well as four grandchildren, Kylee, Grant, Ryan and Ashley.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 11:30 AM at Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, FL 33458. A reception will follow in the funeral home until 2:30 PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
