David was born in Kansas City, Kansas on October 28, 1945 to Walter Kenneth Smith and Florence Tipton Smith. He joined the Army in 1965, went to Jump school then into Green Beret training. He served on the A-team Intelligence in Vietnam for one year. When he returned to the states and was discharged from the Army he received his Bachelors of Labor Relations at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, MO.
David is survived by his wife, Cathy; his stepchildren Christopher Brian Henderson (wife Lisa Ilene Fox); Kimberly Clark Henderson; Christina Carolyn Giulianelli (husband Mario John Giulianelli); Sisters, Sherrelyn Rae Smith; Denise Elaine Voyles (husband Michael Duane Voyles); Nephew Michael Shane Voyles; Niece Sherry Elaine Closterman (husband Ryan Andrew Closterman); Grand Nephew Andrew Lucas Closterman and Grand Niece Adalyn Grace Closterman, who was proudly born on David’s 69th birthday. He is predeceased by his brother, Dennis Alan Smith.
David was retired and lived in Jupiter, Florida with his wife Cathy and their two dogs, Coco and Benji. He loved boating, playing golf, watching sports – especially his Kansas City Chiefs and spending time with his family and friends. David loved life. He was the most fun, loving, easy going, happy, would do anything for anyone type of guy. He will be missed by all and never forgotten.
