David Ross "Dave" Dunnigan, 64, passed away on March 24, 2025, in Jupiter, Florida. Born on February 26, 1961, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, David lived a life marked by passion, leadership, and deep connections with his loved ones.
At the age of 12, David moved from Canada to Montclair, New Jersey, where he attended Montclair Kimberley Academy (MKA) for high school. It was there that his love for hockey flourished. He captained the MKA Cougars varsity team and went on to play Division I hockey at Clarkson University. His talent and dedication also led him to compete in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), a testament to his skill and commitment to the sport.
David began his professional journey at Hewlett Packard (HP), where he sold technology equipment. His drive and vision propelled him into a distinguished career in the SaaS technology industry. He rose through the ranks to become President and CEO of Pervasive Software, earning recognition as an accomplished executive known for his strategic insight and leadership.
Beyond his professional achievements, David was a man of many passions. He absolutely loved skiing. He was an avid skier throughout his adult life who even raced competitively. He also found joy in cycling and remained deeply connected to hockey long after his playing days ended. Whether carving down snowy slopes or riding along scenic trails, David embraced life with energy and enthusiasm.
He had a deep appreciation for country music and found peace in two places he cherished most: on the water or in the mountains.
David's personality left an indelible mark on everyone he met. He was funny, loving, generous, witty, thoughtful and creative; a rare combination that allowed him to connect with people from all walks of life. His warmth and humor brought light into every room he entered.
He is lovingly remembered by his four children: Dennis Dunnigan, Kelly Dunnigan-Wilson, Connor Dunnigan, and Quinn Dunnigan. They carry forward his legacy with pride and affection. David is also survived by his father Kevin Dunnigan and his sister Kathy Dunnigan. He was predeceased by his mother Beverly Dunnigan.
David Ross "Dave" Dunnigan lived fully, with heart, humor, and purpose, and leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort and inspiration to all whose lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that the best way to honor David is to take a bike ride or dedicate your next ski run in his memory.
A funeral service for David will be held Monday, March 31, 2025 from 11 AM to 1 PM at Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, FL 33458.
