Claire B Kendall, also known as “Little Ma” and Mom to her loving family went home to be with her Lord Jesus on Friday afternoon July 29, 2016. And she was so very blessed to have been napping in her favorite chair when she peacefully passed. Mom was born in West New York, New Jersey, on January
2nd, 1927 to proud parents Charles and Mae Greenleaf. She spent her childhood days in West New York, and attended Emerson High School.
In 1947 Mom met the man of her dreams, John Kendall, also known as “Pops” to his family and friends. Pops was a real rascal. Mom worked at an ice cream shop and as the story was told by Mom he was always hanging around that ice cream shop and probably really didn’t like ice cream that much.
Soon enough, in 1947, Mom and Pops were ‘keeping company’ as they called it back then. Pops then proudly joined The Marine Corp Reserves in 1948, and was called to active duty in 1950, Camp Pendleton, San Diego, California. Mom and Pops were married October 23rd, 1950 by Navy Chaplain Captain Brosious at Camp Pendleton and celebrated later that evening with their two best friends enjoying hamburgers, soda and beer.
Pops was honorably discharged in June 1951 so Mom and Pops decided to move back to New Jersey, in Union City. Then, sometime in early 1952 Mom was just ecstatic to tell Pops they were going to have their very first baby later that year, her beloved and adoring son John Jr!!!
In 1962 Mom and Pops decided to leave the snow behind and move to sunny south Florida. After being a stay-at-home Mom taking care of her son John Jr, Mom decided it would be fun to join Boynton Beach Police Department, and she was quickly promoted to Finger Print Technician Expert after many, many months of FBI schooling. She was the one who would go to court and testify and help put the bad guys away! And she loved it! Mom retired from BBPD in 1991, and she and Pops spent the next 20+ years traveling all over the globe including Hawaii, most of the USA, Europe, and visiting her most favorite country, her heritage, the beautiful and stunning Ireland.
Mom has joined her beloved beagle “Tinker” in Heaven. She leaves behind her loving husband John R Kendall; loving son John A Kendall; loving daughter-in-law Susie; step-granddaughter Lisa Valentine and her husband Fletch, Melbourne, Fla; step-great grandson Trey Valentine, Melbourne, Fla; step-great granddaughter Tia Valentine, Los Angeles, California; and her ‘granddogs’ Sailor and Stormy, and many, many caring friends and neighbors.
Respectfully and lovingly submitted by Susie Kendall.
Arrangements under the direction of Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, Jupiter, FL.
