Carol was born on October 4, 1944, in Kewanee, Illinois, the daughter of Ernest (Glenn) Enslow and Bette (Bennett) and William (Vaughn) Riley. She is survived by her four children, John (Gloria) Larson, North Palm Beach, FL, Lisa Hoogerwerf (Jim Breckenridge), Peoria, IL, Angela (John) Dietrich, Jupiter, FL, and Robert King (Barbara Cutcher), Rochester, MN. She was blessed with eight grandchildren, Brooke, Ryan, Elizabeth, Malena, Olivia, McKenzie, Kristyn, and Ross, and four great-grandchildren, Layla, Brody, Edward, and Vivienne, and her two beloved dogs, Little Lil and Bailey. She was preceded in death by her parents and two of her beloved & longtime companions, Maggie, and Lilly.
Carol was born and raised in Kewanee, Illinois where she attended high school, raised her family, and then relocated to West Palm Beach, Florida over forty years ago where she made Florida her home. She made her career in the hotel and hospitality industry. She held various accounting and managerial roles for The Breakers, The Ritz-Carlton and PGA National. Many of her earlier hobbies and passions included playing the piano since childhood, her love of dance and ballroom dancing where she competed in numerous competitions. She was an avid tennis player, an excellent seamstress, a fabulous cook and loved to collect and try new recipes. Carol had a sense of adventure, loved to travel, and try new things. Her beautiful smile, her infectious laugh and spirit could light up a room and her sense of style and fun always shone through in everything she did. She loved to socialize and treated her friends like the family they were, as well as her love and devotion to her pets.
A visitation to celebrate her life will be held from 4-6:30 pm on Friday, January 14, 2022, with a memorial service beginning at 6:30 pm at Aycock Funeral Home, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, Florida 33458. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials/donations made in honor of Carol King may be directed to The Pet Cottage, Jupiter Farms, Florida, 33478 or the Hospice of donor’s choice. Aycock Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
