Roy Emory Gorman, age 75 of Jonesboro, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2010. Mr. Gorman was a Veteran of the United States Army, a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro and worked 35 years with Western Union in shipping and receiving. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jane Gorman; 2 daughters, Cheryl (Wilson) Payne of Wingo, KY, Teresa Gorman and her fiancé, Steve Lowry of Jackson; 3 grandchildren, Ashlee Underwood, Jessica Gable and Renee Payne; 6 great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Koenig, Bryson Merritt, Brindley Gable, Justin Rogers and Tyler Rogers, Cheyenne Merritt, brother, Lawrence G. Garman of Newnan. A graveside service is planned at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Sherwood Memorial Park in Jonesboro with Rev. Ervin Pearre officiating. Family will receive friends Tuesday, June 29, 2010 from 6 to 8 pm at Ward’s Tara Chapel. Mr. Gorman was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him.
