Loving father of Anthony Cordova and the late Amanda Cordova. He is also survived by two brothers, David Cordova (Edna Leggett) and Randy Cordova (Verle) and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by brother, Anthony Cordova, Jr., his parents, Anthony Cordova and Betty Cordova.
Mark was born in Decatur, GA. While working at Burger King as a teen, he met his wife Melissa (who passed in 2013). Soon after graduation from Riverdale High School, they married on July 12, 1986, at Snapping Shoals Methodist Church in Henry County.
Their wonderful daughter Amanda (who passed in 2018) came along in 1987 and in 1989, their feisty son Anthony was born. In their nearly 27 years together, he and Melissa cultivated a loving relationship, filled with laughter, compassion, and unconditional support.
Mark is preceded in death by his father, Anthony Cordova, his mother, Betty Cordova, his wife, Melissa Cordova, his daughter, Amanda Cordova, his brother, Anthony Cordova, Jr., and his father-in-law, Raymond Wilson.
He is survived by his son, Anthony Cordova, his brothers David Cordova (Edna Leggett) and Randy Cordova (Verle), his mother-in-law, Teresa Wilson, his sister-in-law, Tracy Gauge, his niece, Tiffany Rodriguez (Guillermo) and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
Mark started working with Saddle Creek on May 31, 1999. He and his brother Randy (who was also his best bud growing up) worked side by side at Saddle Creek, driving and unloading trucks for many years, until Randy moved to a different company. And in the last couple of years, Jeff O’Dell became one of his best friends at work.
What do the fine folks at Saddle Creek have to say about Mark?
“In 23 years of safe, accident-free driving for the company, he likely drove well over 2 million miles in a Saddle Creek tractor.
What an amazing professional accomplishment and an incredible ambassador for our company!
Whenever we had a difficult customer or a challenging delivery, Ted knew to assign the task to Mark, and he would not have to worry about it one bit.”
Mark was a very shy and quiet man. However, if you knew him well or were family, then he would talk your ear off! He would call his brother Randy daily on the phone (sometimes up to 5 times a day!!) and he would call to talk to his other family members several times a week. Once he got you on the phone though, it was hard to get him to hang up.
His family and friends described him as: sentimental, caring, funny (always a jokester), a jolly soul, supportive, loving, a true friend, faithful, committed, and softhearted.
Mark’s passions were his family, working on cars, and collecting diecast model cars/semi-trucks and Spawn figures. He loved a good movie, especially watching them on the big screen at the theatre. He also loved Bugs Bunny and Looney Tunes!
He loved the color red and as well as freaking people out by rolling his eyes to where you could only see the whites of his eyes. So cool!
He enjoyed listening to music – Anthony even made him an awesome new playlist he could jam out to for Father’s Day. And if you knew Mark, you knew he was a picky eater. He would even bring his own lasagna to the family dinners on Thanksgiving and Christmas!
Mark’s home church was The Salvation Army Jonesboro Citadel Corps. He and his family loved the Lord and enjoyed worshiping together, creating lasting relationships with their church family.
Thank you for your continued prayers for Mark’s family and friends. His laughter, love, and awesomeness will live on in our hearts forever. God’s blessing upon each of you.
