John “Jack” Slike, 74, peacefully passed away on May 31, 2024, with his entire family by his side in Atlanta, Georgia where he has resided for the past several years.
Jack is survived by his wife, Betty, of 28 years, his three children John (Julie) Slike of New Middletown, Ohio, Shannon (Ed) Curl of Canton, Georgia, and Bridgette Slike (Wes) of Canton, Georgia, John (Brooke) Mccarty of Louisville, Ohio and Stacey Bentley of Nashville, Tennessee, and the mother of his children, Linda Orenic. He leaves ten grandchildren, Alexis Slike, Johnny Slike, Nick Slike, Joshua Curl, Easton Curl, Faith Curl, Mason McCarty, Spencer McCarty, Mac Bentley, and Maggie Bentley and two great-grandchildren, Elijah Curl, and Griffin Curl. He will be missed by his new silver lab, Charley.
Jack retired from General Motors in Lordstown, Ohio after working for 32 years. Jack made several lifelong friendships while working various jobs before and after retirement. Jack loved his motorcycles, fishing, and supporting his grandchildren’s extracurricular activities, being their biggest fan. Jack was never happier than when he was with his family, and most recently, his great-grandchildren.
He will be missed by more than just his family, but by everyone who has ever met him. He made friends wherever he went.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his three sisters, and his beloved furry companion, Skeeter.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Ohio as preparations are being made to bring him home to rest.
