There she attended the public school system and later discontinued her education to assist her family with jobs such as house chores and picking cotton for 5 cents a bucket, which was common practice during the early 1900’s.
One day while searching the classified ads a housekeeping position located in New York City caught her attention. The position also included a one-way bus ticket which soon led her to migrate to the Big Apple (NYC).
In 1959 while visiting friends, she met the love of her life Frank B Clark. Together they started a family which resulted with four children: Frank Jr, Richard, Angela, and Michael.
To fulfill her passion for cooking, she acquired a position in the food industry at Chase Manhattan Executive Dining Room. After 43 years of service she gracefully retired. After retiring Jessie continued to enjoy shopping (shopaholic), cooking, utilizing NYC transit lines, singing in the choir at Unity Baptist Church, caring for her plants, fishes, and enjoying spending time with her children and grandchildren.
In 2015 Jessie relocated to Hampton, GA with her family to enjoy a new quiet, peaceful life which was quite different from her busy way of life in the big Apple. At first leaving New York was a struggle for her, but she eventually adapted to her new way of living. Jessie received a motorized scooter as a gift, this gift helped her continue the freedom of getting around her new town. She loved outdoors, at times it was hard keeping track of her during her daily shopping trips to Walmart, the bank, nail salons, restaurants, as well as other various franchises.
In 2019 she was diagnosed with early stage of Alzheimer’s. She continued to fight for her independence although her diagnose progressed.
In September 2020, she was admitted into in-home Hospice where she was able to remain with her family to continue to receive tender loving care. On September 30, 2021, she was called home to be with her Lord, exhibiting a warm peaceful smile upon her face.
She was preceded in death by her son; Michael Clark.
She leaves to mourn, the love of her life; Frank Clark (Bronx NY), sons; Frank Clark Jr (Felicia Moore-Clark), Richard Clark (Manhattan NY), and Daughter; Angela Clark-Williams (Marcus Williams) of (Hampton GA), grandchildren; Anthony, Frank, William, Jassin, Shaquira, Hassian, Antoine, Terrell, Crystal, Jessica and Tangeniqua, great grandchildren; Jayden, Nasir, Pryce, Artiel and a host of family and friends.
