She was born August 1, 1945, in Washington, D.C. to George and Myrtle Perrone. The baby of the family, Cil enjoyed close lifelong relationships with her siblings, sisters Myrtle and Mary, and brothers Frank, Bobby, and Bill Beck.
After graduating from high school, Cil began a distinguished career as a civil servant for the U.S. Department of Transportation. Her work as a special investigative agent for the Federal Aviation Administration took Cil around the globe, with memorable trips throughout Europe and the Americas. Cil retired in September 2002, after 37 years of dedicated service to the people of the United States of America.
In June 1983, Cil married her loving husband of 39 years, Joel Timothy Ray. Together they raised her son, the artist David Crouch, who preceded her in death.
Cil had a passion for art, travel, horses, and was an avid collector of Betty Boop memorabilia. A strong Sicilian woman to her core, Cil was known for her sharp wit and abiding faith.
Mrs. Ray is survived by her husband, Tim Ray; siblings, Mary and Earl Armstrong, Bill and Connie Beck. and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Remembrance services will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at Tara Garden Chapel in Jonesboro. Visitation will begin at 11am, with funeral service at 1pm, and graveside internment at Sherwood Memorial Gardens immediately following.
