Wayne Francis Hicks

Wayne Francis Hicks, 68, of Newark, formerly of Alexandria, OH, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 9, 1955 in Columbus, OH, a son to the late Oather Eugene and Noraetta Jean (Watkins) Hicks. Wayne worked for International Harvester and Center City for 34 years and was also employed with DHL Supply Chain until early retirement to assist with his mother’s care until her passing. He was a caring person, a chaperone for the boy’s dorm at the Hartford Fair for many years, he would help with firework events through Hamburg and also assisted in making maple syrup with John Stiers. Wayne is survived by his loving siblings, Anna Wilkin, Patricia Belmer, Stanley (Wanda) Hicks, Joann (Danh) Nguyen and Nadine (Kevin) Slack; sister-in-law, Georgia Hicks; special friends, John Stiers, Mike Morrison and family and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Clay Hicks; brother-in-laws, Richard Wilkin and Mike Belmer. Honoring the family’s wishes, cremation will take place. A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 26, 2024 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Alexandria, Ohio. Celebration of life service will follow at 12:00 p.m. on Friday at the American Legion Hall, 180 W. Maple St., Johnstown, OH 43031.
