Vernon Byron Ashbrook, age 81, of Johnstown, passed away on March 11, 2023, peacefully at his residence. He was born to the late Leland Eli and Alice Marguerite (Maggie) (Clapham) Ashbrook on November 22, 1941. He is a graduate of Johnstown Monroe High School Class of 1959. He was a retired truck driver after 47 years of being an owner/operator of semi and running Ashbrook & Sons Trucking. His career took him over the road for much of his career. He also received a Computer Science Degree and had previously worked for Rockwell International, Swan Rubber and Ohio State University. He was a lifetime member of the Grand Lodge of Masons and an avid fan of Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns football. He loved watching NASCAR and western movies and enjoyed golfing and having a few beers with his friends and family. He was a member of Strokers Rod and Custom Car Club going to car shows to proudly show is 1956 Chevy. He was an independent proud simple man with a huge heart. Vernon is survived by Carol Sue (Nobile) Ashbrook wife for 63 years of marriage. Also survived by children, Lori (Ted) Ashbrook, Brett (Tammara) Ashbrook, Liza (Joe) Ashbrook-Rucker, and Chad (Jamie) Ashbrook and his beloved dog Bingo. Siblings are Carol Kay Houser, James Leland (Rita) Ashbrook, and Gary Michael (Sherri) Ashbrook. In addition, his is survived by 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren leaving us with a Legacy of Life he was so proud of. He is preceded in death by his son Brent Byron Ashbrook, parents Leland and Maggie Ashbrook, and brother Donald Harold Ashbrook. Please join us for a CELEBRATION OF LIFE on March 28, 2023, 4pm-6pm. Services at 6pm officiated by Pastor Kevin Ashbrook and memorial provided from Grand Lodge of Masons of Ohio in which he was a lifetime member.
