Staca Eugene “Gene” Kanniard, 92, of Johnstown, OH, went home to our Lord and his beloved wife and little dog, Misty. He was born to the late John Staca and Adah Mary (Claypool) Kanniard in Ashley, OH, Delaware County. He graduated from Ashley High School. Gene was enlisted in the United States Air Force from January 29, 1948 to January 29, 1952, served in Japan. He was employed by North American Aviation, Curtis Wright, Rockwell International and Boeing in Columbus for 34 years. Gene Loved camping with Good Sam Club, Chapter 14 and loved wintering in Fort Meade, FL. for 34 years. He owned and operated Gene’s Lawn Mower Repair in Columbus, OH. Drove school bus for Johnstown Monroe Schools, managed a Frisch’s Big Boy, member of Johnstown Lions Club, life time Mason, Johnstown and Gahanna Chapter’s, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Free Mason, member of the Eastern Star, member of Harmony Baptist Church and owned the Dairy Deluxe, Johnstown, OH. Gene married June (Kennedy) Wright on May 6, 1973. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, June “Punkin” Kanniard; two sons, Robert and David; brothers, Robert, Richard, Harold and John Henry and sisters, Irene and Doris. Gene is survived by his sisters, Maxine Heinz, Catherine Craley, Evelyn Hedrick, Ruthie Davis, Dorothy (Dick) Hill, Pauline (Dave) Davis; brothers, Bill, Tex (Linda) Kennedy; a host of nieces and nephews; extended family and friends; neighbors, Eric (Darla) Snyder, Jackie (Jim) Basham. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, December 6, 2021 at CROUSE-KAUBER-FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, 225 N Main St., Johnstown, OH 43031. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Ashbrook officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of Central Ohio, the Johnstown Monroe Fire Department and EMS.
