Ralph Bernard Wood Jr.

Ralph ran his own block laying business, founded in the mid 1960’s and retired back in 2001 from both the City of Columbus and block laying, where all six of his children experienced the joys of hard work alongside his late wife, Ruth Ann Wood, “Hoss”. He was born to the late Ralph Wood Sr., and Dorothy (Smith) Jaynes on October 29, 1939. He married his soulmate and loving wife on May 23rd, 1959 in the Summit Station M.E. Church by the Rev. Edmund Jones.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ralph Wood Sr.; his mother, Dorothy Jaynes; his wife, Ruth Wood; his brother, John Wood; and his eldest son, Ralph Jerry Wood (Surviving Spouse Lynda L. Wood). He is survived by his brothers, Danny Wood and Bill Wood; his sisters. Peggy (Lloyd) Reibel, Patty (Bob) Horton, Lana and Debby (Randy) Jaynes Brownfield; his five living children. Elizabeth Ann (William) Moran, Michael Scott (Shelly) Wood, Laura Jane VanScoy-Andrews (Keith), Joseph Bernard (Wanda) Wood and Mark William (Bobbi) Wood; and his 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren within his lifetime.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2024 at Crouse-Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 225 N. Main St., Johnstown, OH 43031. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024 at the funeral home, with pastor Tim Overly officiating. Burial is to immediately follow at Fancher Cemetery.
