Margaret “Peg” Ann Peyton (née Reck), age 75, of Johnstown, Ohio passed away at 3:22 A.M. on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio following a three and a half year battle with cancer. Peg was born on September 8, 1949 in Greenville, Ohio to Cletus & Margaret Ann (Stover) Reck.
In addition to her parents, Peg is preceded in death by her infant daughter, Bethany Peyton, and her sister-in-law, Nena Reck.
Peg is survived by her loving husband, Robert Peyton, and their son, Chadley (Jennifer) Peyton of Versailles, Ohio; daughters Rachael (Felipe) Zordan of Bexley, Ohio, and Elyse (Dustin) Priest of Johnstown, Ohio; brothers Gregory Reck of Xenia, Ohio, and Kevin (Mary Ann) Reck of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Eric & Abigail Peyton, Justin & Peyton Zordan, and Macee & Brooklyn Priest; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Peg was a 1968 graduate of Versailles High School and a 1972 graduate of Ohio University where she majored in Speech & Hearing Pathology. It was there where she met and married Bob, leading to a dedicated and loving 53-year marriage.
In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Peg pursued various career paths, including speech therapy, education, and after raising her children, working in the banking and health insurance fields.
Peg’s faith was a vital part of her life. She was a very active member of the Johnstown United Methodist Church, looking forward to her weekly Bible study and women’s fellowship groups.
Peg had a great desire to travel which led her and Bob to see the world, visiting many beautiful places in North & South America, Europe, and Africa. She also loved shopping, visiting with friends, and decorating her home for Christmas. These passions were eclipsed only by the joy of spending time with Bob, her children, and grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Johnstown United Methodist Church from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. The funeral service will immediately follow with Pastor Matt Van Winkle officiating. Burial will take place the following morning at Greenlawn Cemetery in Versailles, Ohio, at 11:00 A.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the March of Dimes, a charity precious to Peg.
