I am so sorry for your loss. I hope that Jer. 29: 11,12 will bring you some comfort during this difficult time.

I worked with all five of "Popeye's"children at the grain elevator in Columbus. He was a much loved and respected father and certainly will be greatly missed by his family.  So sorry for your loss.

What a wonderful man. Popeye was so kind and helped our family haul a play cottage from Amish country, and on another occasion, did a lot of prep work so my daughter could have a stall at our house when her horse became blind and had to be moved home. Perhaps my favorite memory is when our family was invited to a hot dog roast and Bon fire on the farm. I have done greatly enjoyed spending time with Popeye and Jane. Our hearts go out to you during this time, and prayers for God's great comfort.

Our prayers go out to the Thompson family...we were very blessed to have met Popeye, and to his amazing daughter Leisa your in our thoughts often but especially during this tough time.

I never had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful man here on this earth, but wish I had. I drive by his farm/golf course and new Popeye's Family Cemetery everyday on my way to my dog kennel.  I have heard the name, "Popeye" in my community since I was a small child.  He is a legend here in Alexandria and his name was always followed by words like, hard-working, kindest, would do anything for ya...kinda guy.  I pray that I have the pleasure of meeting him someday and that in time the family will find peace in his passing and know that he made a mark on people he never even knew.

Popeye and my dad had been friends since the 50's.  Dad always told stories about Popeye, how they used to farm in places now full of homes & businesses that "were once all cornfields", always what a hard worker he was and how you could always count on Popeye.  Though I know Popeye had many friends, Dad was fortunate to be one of them.  My favorite thing I ever heard my dad say about Popeye was, "Now, don't let his size fool you, he's strong...and that mans tougher than an old pine knot"  He will be greatly missed !

My prayers are with this very close family in this sad time. I know you are strong because you have such a great role model. Popeye was a great man and i will always remember how he made me feel welcome in his home. Time flies, but the good memories will last.

Knew Popeye for many years as being in farming industry.  Good man.  Always enoyed his machinery at local shows.

RIP Popeye

Popeye was one of the most amazing men. No one knew more and had more stories to tell & wisdom to share. His legacy will live on through the hearts he's touched and lives he's affected. In my short 16 years of knowing him, he's taught me things that I would never had learned if it weren't for him. He kept the farm & golf course alive and it was his pride and joy. No matter how stressed he was he was always smiling and cracking jokes. I love you grandpa. See ya down the road.

There were lots of good times at the Thompson farm.  Always welcomed in for a great home cooked meal.  Growing up we used to swim in the pond and during the blizzard one year we were pulled on a car hood behind Popeye's tractor through the snow.  Popeye will not be forgotten and my memories will be cherished.  My deepest sympathies go out to the family.
