James Walter Metz Jr.

James Walter Metz Jr., 78, of Johnstown, Ohio passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023. He was preceded in death by parents Frances and James Metz Sr.; sister, Sandra Sweet; and brothers, Robert and William Metz. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Carol Linda Metz; son, James W. Metz III, daughters Darlene and Kristie (Brandon Senior); grandchildren, Shelbi (Connor) Headlee, Jacob, NeVaeh, Savannah, Brandon, Amanda, Meghan, Devin, and Chloe; great-grandchildren, Moxi and Raymond; sister Janet Slade; brother John Metz; sisters-in-law, Maxine Jenkins and Ruth (Paul) Park; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other family, friends, and loved ones. James attended Oak Creek Bible Church of Johnstown. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1965. He is retired from Sheet Metal Local 24 with 44 years of service. James loved to go fishing, hunting, making knives, mushroom hunting, arrowhead hunting, along with many other interests. A visitation for James will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Crouse-Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 225 North Main Street, Johnstown, Ohio 43031. A funeral service will occur Thursday, November 30, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the funeral home, with Pastor Tommy Tucker officiating. A graveside service will occur Friday, December 1, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Rome Proctorville Cemetery, Proctorville, Ohio. A special thanks to Mt. Carmel Hospice for their wonderful care.
