Elva Marie (Ehart) Freeman, 100, of Newark, made her journey home to the Lord on September 8, 2017. She was born on December 14, 1916, in Logan, New Mexico, a daughter to the late Silas and Iva (Brownlee) Ehart. Elva was a longstanding member of the Southgate Church of Christ in Heath. She was a quilter, loved to sew, and made quilts for all of her grandchildren. Elva loved games, especially Yahtzee and Dominoes, and she always won. She also collected hundreds of dolls. She has resided at Flint Ridge Nursing Home in Newark since 2012, where she was well-loved. Elva is survived by her loving daughter, Mildred Louise Newman of Newark; son, Alvin (Debbie) Freeman of Cuyahoga Falls; 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-great-grandchild; many loving friends and her church family. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl O. Freeman to whom she was married for 64 years; sons, Harlan Freeman of Michigan, and Terry Freeman of Wisconsin; daughter, Earlene Binderim of North Carolina; 2 sisters; 2 brothers; and one grandson. The funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at CROUSE-KAUBER-FRALEY FUNERAL HOME, 225 N. Main St., Johnstown, OH 43031, with Pastor David Myers officiating. Visitation will start one hour prior to the start of service. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.
