Dan Edward Derringer III, 62, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on September 30, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. Dan was born on February 6, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Dan Edward Jr. and Joyce (Burt) Derringer. Dan attended Miami University's Farmer School of Business where he received master's degrees in finance and small business management after earning his undergraduate degree in accounting. Dan was a Certified Public Accountant who founded and operated United Tax & Accounting in central Ohio for 20 years. Dan will be remembered by his family and friends for his energy and determination. He enjoyed the outdoors and preferred spending his time working on his farm or building recreational trails for his all-terrain vehicles. Dan was a passionate football fan. His loyalty to his sports teams was unwavering. Dan loved to spend time with his family. He relished planning activities with his children. Dan was preceded in death by his wife Diana Lynn Derringer, and parents. Dan is survived by his sisters, Debbie Garza and Patricia DerringerMatteo; daughters, Tiffany (Alec) Messerall and Danielle (Rob) LaSota; sons, David (Kerry) Butler, Allen (Sara) Butler and Michael Derringer; 7 grandchildren, David Butler Jr, Hailey Butler, Emily Butler, Elise Butler, Emmett Messerall, Alice Messerall and Sydney LaSota. Calling hours will be held at Crouse-Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 225 N. Main St, Johnstown, Ohio, on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the Green Lawn Cemetery Chapel, Columbus, Ohio.
