Lois Ann Meade, age 83, loving wife, mother, and grandmother of Limestone, TN, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at Four Oaks Healthcare Center in Jonesborough, TN following an extended illness. She was born in Wise County, Virginia a daughter of the late Willie Taylor and Elgie Bishop Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, Claude, Paul, Harold, Howard, Elmer, Larry “Chuck” and Cecil Taylor; and one sister, Shirley “Eula” Taylor.
Lois was of the Baptist faith and attended church in each community where she lived. She was an avid reader, loved to shop and had a soft spot in her heart for her cat Simon. Lois worked at various jobs including Northern Virginia Training and Rehab Center, Lorton Prison System, and finished up her working career at Walmart where she enjoyed greeting guests and making friends with everyone she met.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, John “J.C.” Meade; one daughter and son-in-law, Hope Hill and husband Bob, of Niceville, FL; two sons, Joseph Carl Meade, of Bowie, Maryland, and Christopher Todd Meade, of The Plains, VA; five grandchildren, Leah Hill, Brian Meade, Brandon Meade, Nicole Meade, and Zac Meade; one sister, Betty Thacker; four sister-in-laws, Edith Boles, Brenda Taylor, Elizabeth Taylor, and Ora Lee Meade; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Lois cherished all her family and loved them dearly.
The family will receive friends Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 3:00PM until 5:00PM at Monte Vista Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow at 5:00PM with Chaplain Jeff Hammer officiating.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Gentiva Hospice and Four Oaks Healthcare Center for all their love and care that was shown to Lois and J.C. during her extended stay at Four Oaks.
