Linda Mae (Osborne) Swonger, age 76, of New Freedom, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2023 with her loving family surrounding her. She was the loving wife of the late John S. Swonger, Jr. who passed away in 1993.
Linda was born in Blountville, TN on May 7, 1947 and was the daughter of the late Carter and Pauline (Feathers) Osborne. She was a homemaker for most of her life and was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Linda was also a member of Glen Rock Church of Christ where she was very active in all church activities.
Linda is survived by her children John C. Swonger and wife Ruth of Johnson City, TN and Rachel M. Bury and husband William of Hanover, PA; her grandchildren Kate Whetsel and husband Brandon, Margaret Malone and husband Callen, and Jacob Bury; and her great-grandson Walker Whetsel. She is also survived by her sisters Virginia Alban, Lois Bortner, and Hilda Strunk; her special cousin Betty Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. Linda was preceded in death by her brother Wayne Osborne; and her sisters Hansel Humphries, Catherine Cole, Eva Nell Forbes, Lydia Rosier, Wanda Yost, and Clara Osborne.
A Funeral Service in celebration of Linda’s life will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 3:00PM at Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., of Spring Grove, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, PA 17362 with Pastor Jeffrey Dillinger officiating. A viewing will be held from 2:00PM – 3:00PM on Saturday at the funeral home. Committal Service and Interment will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Poplar Ridge Christian Church Cemetery, 206 Poplar Ridge Church Road, Piney Flats, Tennessee, with Dr. Allen Davis officiating.
