Dr. Jackey “Doc” Ball, passed on Saturday, December 18th, 2021, after a brief illness. He graduated from Washington College Academy, Limestone, TN in 1951, joined the Army, and Graduated from the Palmer College of Chiropractic before practicing in Dunnellon for many years.
Preceded in death was his loving mother Louise Broyles, stepfather “Teen” Broyles, sister Wanda Bradley and brother Joe Pat Ball. He is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Special thanks to the Masons, Elks, other civic clubs that “Doc” encountered in his Dunnellon years. Thanks to all those who traveled the backwoods, waterways, and swamps of Central Florida with Jack, especially Wayne Hargabus, who took “Doc” on his last hunting trip at the young age of 87. Our family must give a very special loving embrace to Rick & Terri Elliott and Bill & Deb Hindall. Their years of dedicated friendship will never be forgotten. Thank you so very much.
“Doc” was known for his “work hard-play harder” mentality. He made the outdoors his place of refuge by hunting and fishing all-over. Evidence could be found in his world-class taxidermy collection and the grand stories of his travels. Those travels included five trophy large-mouth bass of 10+ pounds and every trophy animal that Zimbabwe, Africa had to offer! Very few accomplished either. Doc’s desire to educate himself left a great impression on those he touched. We pray that will be extended forward.
Donations in his honor to your favorite Republican Candidate for Public Service, would make “Doc” smile.
The family of Dr. Jackey Morelock Ball is in the care of Monte Vista Funeral Home & Memorial Park.
