Elizabeth “Betty” Ida Horton Morgan, age 95, of Jonesborough, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born in Stillwater, New Jersey, a daughter of the late Luther Horton and Rose Cooper Horton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd H. Morgan, Jr.; 3 brothers, Walter Horton, Kurtis Horton, and Harold Horton, Sr.; one sister, Freida French; and one grandson, David Goddard, Jr.
Betty grew up in Huguenot, New York, and lived in Port Jervis, New York, most of her adult life. Later in life she moved to Tennessee to enjoy the beautiful mountains. She loved playing bingo, phase 10 with her good friends Joey and Betty, doing word search puzzles, but most of all having the patients and doing 1000-piece jigsaw puzzles. Betty was the best at crocheting and was known for being one of the best seamstress in the area.
Those left to cherish the wonderful memories include her four sons, Frank Goddard, Sr. (Sue), of Huguenot, NY, Francis “Red” Goddard (Brenda), of Montague, NJ, David Goddard, Sr. (Nancy), of Cuddebackville, NY, and Roger Morgan (Brenda), of Jonesborough, TN; one daughter, Dale Leader (Fritz), of Forrestburgh, NY; she had eleven grandchildren who she loved all dearly especially her three closest granddaughters, Rebecca Morgan, Kristianna Morgan, and Kelsey Morgan; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her special furry friend “Beany.”
Per her wishes there will be no visitation. A Private Committal Service and Interment will be held in Pine Grove Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Road, Matamoras, PA with Anthony Harris officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in her memory to the Port Jervis Volunteer Ambulance Corps, PO Box 133, Port Jervis, NY 12771.
