Robert J White, Sr. (Bob) of Brigantine, NJ and Stuart, FL passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 18th surrounded by his family. After serving his country as a United States Marine in the Korean War, Bob had a storied career on the outskirts of Philadelphia as a barber and volunteer firefighter. Bob, Mary Jane and their sons Robert Jr., and Michael, relocated to Brigantine, NJ. He was the proud owner, of the Clipper Ship Motel. While running the Clipper Ship with his family, Bob began to involve himself in the local community and associated activities, none of which he was more passionate about than the sport of rowing. Along with being a founding member, Bob was intimately involved with the growth of the Brigantine Rowing Club. From being instrumental in its origin and construction, to helping to mold it into the successful, state of the art facility that it is today. The Brigantine Rowing Club has been responsible for spring-boarding the academic and athletic careers of countless local high school athletes. Millions of dollars in scholarships and lifelong friendships were made possible through Bob’s devotion and commitment. The sport of rowing encapsulated Bob’s belief in hard work and discipline, and he remained supportive of the Holy Spirit High School crew teams and various local programs up until his passing. Bob was also passionate about his golf. Anyone who was privileged enough to spend 18 holes with Bob would come away with a lifetime of stories, one-liners, and laughs. Bob is survived by his “Dear”, Mary Bolderman, his loving and cherished partner and companion, two sons , Robert Jr. (Leslie) of Absecon, NJ; and Michael (Patti) of San Juan Capistrano, CA; five grandchildren: RJ (Megan), Gannon, Christopher, Danielle, and Bayly White DiPilato (Michael) & great grand daughter, Betty; and his brother Harry White.
