Robert Strauss, aged 92, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2023 in Stuart, Florida. Born in Orange, New Jersey, he was a resident of Newtown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania for 25 years before relocating to Florida’s Treasure Coast.
He was a high school gymnast, and entered the U.S. Marine Corps at aged 19 during the Korean conflict. After completing basic training at Parris Island, South Carolina he was assigned to Camp Pendleton, San Diego, California achieving the rank of Sergeant prior to his honorable discharge in 1953.
Robert received undergraduate and graduate degrees in Electrical Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He was a member in good standing with the National Society of Professional Engineers since 1967. Robert had a productive and distinguished Engineering career with Congoleum Industries at facilities in New Jersey & Pennsylvania. He retired following his employment with RIMTEC Corporation, a plastics manufacturer.
A world-wide traveler, Robert and has wife Dorothy vacationed together throughout the British Isles, European continent, Caribbean, and North & Central America. An avid golfer, he played across the globe including Links courses in England. Robert was an accomplished, self-taught artist and enjoying painting watercolors, oil-on-canvas, and charcoal drawings for friends and family alike.
He is survived by his son Paul of Stuart, Florida; granddaughters Kelsey and Christina Strauss, grandson Michael and great-grandchildren Caitlyn, Savanna and Daniel.
He is predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Dorothy and sons Bobby, Michael, and John.
