He was born in Jamacia, New York and had lived in Jensen Beach for 36 years, coming from Lynbrook, New York. He was the son of Cosmo and Antonia Forgione Rummo.
Joseph served in the U.S. Army in the Military Police Special Weapons Unit; He was owner of St. Lucie Sanitation Company for 25 years in Martin County and Saint Lucie County. Joseph was the founder of Freedom Waste Removal. He served as a volunteer firefighter in Lynbrook and for Martin County Fire and Rescue. He was a member of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church and loved NASCAR and Johnnie Cash.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carmela; son Joseph C. Rummo and his wife Clair of Jensen Beach; 2 daughters, Antoinette Messano and her husband, Sal of Melbourne and Lisa Ahal and her husband, Craig of Palm City; and 5 grandchildren, Nicholas, Anthony, Lelan, Drew and Maddison.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 2, from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. at Aycock Funeral Home, 950 N.E. Jensen Beach Blvd, Jensen Beach, Florida with a Prayer Service at 3 P.M. A Mass of Christian burial will be Wednesday, November 3 at 10:00am in St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 2555 NE Savannah Rd, Jensen Beach.
Entombment will be at All Saints Cemetery.
