Francis (Frank) Joseph McDonald, aged 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 24, 2022 in Jensen Beach, Florida. He was born February 8, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Francis John and Mary (Larkin) McDonald. He was preceded in death by his sister Katherine (Morgan) Moore and his brother John(Joan) McDonald. He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann (Ardito) McDonald, whom he loved dearly.
He is survived by his ten children, of whom he was very proud; Mary (Ed) Curley, Judy Bellini, Francis J. (Maura) McDonald, Sue (Jim) Gillick, Doug McDonald, Carrie Beth (Jim) Russo, Therese McDonald, Gerard (Melanie) McDonald, Debbie Floor, and Kathy Skon. He is also survived by his nephew, Christopher Ardito and many nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of 26 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his first wife and mother of their children; Carrie (Garcia) McDonald.
Frank had worked in marketing, sales, and management for the telephone industry. Frank was a lifelong learner with a great work ethic! He was always fascinated by technology and as a young man, built his parents a TV when TV's first came out. He was also a professional musician, playing the piano and accordion. He taught himself to sail at a young age, and his love of the water and his country brought him to spend time in the Merchant Marines coast guard, and later to captain a charter fishing boat business in New York.
Frank had a bright, positive attitude and a smile that could light up a room and warm your heart in an instant. He loved visits and phone calls with his family. He had a great sense of humor and always had a kind word for the people he encountered on a daily basis.
Visitation will be held at Aycock Funeral Home, 950 NE Jensen Beach Blvd. Jensen Beach, FL 34957 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. on Saturday October 8, 2022. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Church, 1200 SE 10th St., Stuart, FL 34996 at 10:00 a.m. with a lunch afterwards at Aycock Funeral Home.
