Donald Wilkie Sr.

Born in Deerfield, MA, he lived in Jensen Beach for 51 years after graduating from Deerfield Academy.

Mr. Wilkie was the owner of Florida Nursery and Garden Center in Jensen Beach, FL for ten years, and he supervised General Development Corporation’ s nursery in Port Lucie, FL for four years.

He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a former Fire Chief for the Jensen Beach Fire Department, past President of the Jensen Beach Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Jensen Beach Optimist Club, and a long time Little League coach. He was also instrumental in the annual fireworks show on the Jensen Beach Causeway, as well as the Turtle Watch in Jensen Beach.

Survivors include his son Donald Wilkie, Jr. of North Port, FL; his brother, William Wilkie of Campbell, CA; and, his grandson Michael.

He was predeceased by his wife Marian.

Inurnment will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL at a later date.
