William E. Murphy

He was born January 16, 1935 in Mather, a son of the late Patrick H. and Agnes B. Connor Murphy Sr.

Mr. Murphy was a 1952 graduate of Jefferson-Morgan High School.

He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and worked as an electrician at Hanscom Air Force Base, Bedford, MA until his retirement.

Mr. Murphy was a member of the Jefferson Baptist Church, where in 1957 he married Charlotte McNeely, who survives. They lived in Dracut, MA, where they raised their 5 children and they were married until 1992.

Also surviving are four children, Kathy Murphy of Hampton, NH, Donna Martin of Lowell, MA, Darlene Murphy of Marshall, WI, and Thomas Murphy of Dracut, MA; two grandchildren, Tracey Martin and Tara (John) Turner; a great granddaughter, Clare; a brother, George (Nancy) Murphy of Jefferson; and a sister, Judy Shaffer of Jefferson.

Deceased is a son, Brian Murphy; five brothers, Patrick H. Murphy Jr., James Murphy, John Murphy, Charles Murphy (his twin), and Richard Murphy; two sisters, Kathryn Gordon and Gwen Peyton.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, with the Rev. Geoff Rach officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the US Air Force. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the Hospice Care of the Washington Hospital, Donnell House, 10 Leet St., Washington, PA 15301.
