He was born September 26, 1927 in Daisytown, a son of the late Joseph and Pauline Zoldak Markovich.
Mr. Markovich was a 1945 graduate of East Pike Run High School.
He served in the United States Navy during WW II.
Mr. Markovich was a retired mechanic and electrician coal miner with Gateway Coal Company.
He was a member of St. Thomas RC Church and enjoyed being part of the church choir. He was also a member of the Catholic Holy Family Society, the American Legion Hanson-Cole Post #391 of Fredericktown, US Navy Memorial Foundation, and the United Mine Workers of America.
After his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling and especially taking cruises. They had been on over 10 cruises and visited many different tropical islands.
He was known to be a handyman, always being available to family and friends to do mechanical and electrical work. He will be remembered for his wonderful smile.
On August 27, 1949 in St. Thomas RC Church, Clarksville, he married Irene Kensic, who survives.
Also surviving is a son, Stephen E. Markovich of Falls Church, VA and a daughter, Susanne Baker and her husband Cliff of South Park; a granddaughter, Courtney Baker; and he was the last of his immediate family.
Deceased are two brothers, Joseph Markovich and Andrew Markovich; three sisters, Susan Kulok, Kathryn Solak and Margaret Seizak.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday in the Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where a Blessing Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2012, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas RC Church, Clarksville, with the Rev. Fr. J. Francis Frazer officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Jefferson Road, Waynesburg. Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by the United States Navy and the American Legion Post #391.
