Karen E. Basinger

She was born December 9, 1944 in Waynesburg, a daughter of the late Charles H. and Margaret Ann Moody Bissett.

Mrs. Basinger graduated from Jefferson Morgan High School in 1963.

On July 8, 1963 she married Benny D. Basinger, who survives.

She was a retired Certified Nursing Assistant at Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, and had been a deli clerk at Giant Eagle in Dry Tavern and Waynesburg stores, and had also worked at Bell’s Jefferson Market store.

Mrs. Basinger was a member of American Legion Post #954 Auxiliary of Jefferson.

She enjoyed her children and especially her grandchildren, working cross-word puzzles, and going to the casino with Brenda.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Samuel Basinger and companion Krista Gardner of Waynesburg, and a daughter, Dawn Basinger and companion Robert Dains of Waynesburg; two grandchildren, Destinee Basinger Wynn, and Jaimie Teagarden; three great grandchildren, Ryker D’Angelo Basinger, Rayne Elaine Basinger and Kennedy Ryann Hutchinson; two sisters, Iverna Christoffers of Beltsville, MD, and Ellen Zimmerman of Waynesburg; and four brothers, Charles H. (Mary Lou) Bissett Jr. of Lorain, OH, Kenneth (Peggy) Bissett of Ellsworth, John Bissett of Adah, and Gerald Bissett of Clarksville; a special friend, Brenda Wise..

Deceased in addition to her parents are two brothers, Frank Bissett and James Bissett and two sisters in infancy, Joyce and Sarah.

Friends will be received on Monday, August 8th, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Behm Funeral Homes, 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where services will be held at on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Betty Riecks officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg.
