Floyd R. Walters

He was born August 11, 1929 in Rices Landing to the late John Martin and Stella Bise Walters.

Mr. Walters was a Korean War Veteran having served his country honorably in the US Army as a Sergeant.

Mr. Walters was a graduate of Uniontown Mechanical School. He owned and operated Walters Auto Repair for 56 years, until the time of his death. Along with owing his own business he drove school buses for Central Greene, and later Jefferson Morgan School Districts for 45 years. Prior to owning his own business he worked 11 years in Poland and Crucible Mines.

Mr. Walters was Baptist by faith. He was a 55 year member of The American Legion Post 954 as well as an honorary member of Jefferson Volunteer Fire Company 20. He loved automobiles and enjoyed showing his 1967 Plymouth at the antique car shows.

Deceased in addition to his parents is his loving wife of 41 years, Donna Shumaker Walters, who passed away on May 18, 1992. Also deceased is his son, Keith Walters, and his brother Merle Walters.

Left to honor and cherish his memory are sons, Lonny R. Walters (Cindy), Duane K. Walters (Sandy) and daughter Melinda Walters, all of Jefferson. Mr. Walters had three grandchildren, Keith Walters, Jr. of Waynesburg, Lonny “Bud” Walters (Bobbi Jo) of Jefferson, and Candace Walters (Buck Mock) of Waynesburg. Also surviving is a great-grandson, Jackson Tucker Walters of Jefferson.

Along with his surviving children are sisters, Gloria Hartley of New Brighton, PA; Violet Shumaker of Evans, CO; Joanne Rush (Joe) of Washington, PA; his brother Clayton Walters of Jefferson; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Behm Funeral Homes, 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 6, 2016 with Rev. John R. Dorean officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg.
