He was born June 15, 1960 in Waynesburg, a son of Clancy Allan Murray Sr. and Sandra Vargo Murray of Jefferson, who survive.
He was a 1978 graduate of Jefferson-Morgan High School, and had served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Murray worked as a corrections officer at S.C.I. Greene in Waynesburg since 1998. He was named SCI Greene employee of the month in February 2014 after utilizing his EMS training to render life-saving assistance at the facility on Decembers 25 and 26, 2013. He had worked as a paramedic in Southwestern Pennsylvania for 15 years. He had also worked with his father as a bridge painting contractor.
He was a Christian by faith. He was a member of American Legion Post 954 in Jefferson where he served as sergeant –at-arms and was a member of the Jefferson Legion Football Club. He was an honorary member of the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Company.
His hobbies were martial arts and gardening. He enjoyed the music of The Beatles.
Surviving in addition to his parents are two sons, Greg Clancy Murray (Jamie) of Monessen and Brian Kenneth Murray of Jefferson; two brothers, Audie Murray of Colorado Springs, CO and Daniel Murray (Dawn) of Clarksville; two sisters, Tammy Neubauer (Richard) of New Freedom and Sandy Demski (John) of Cecil; and nieces and nephews, Vanessa Murray, Kevin Murray, Jacqueline Murray, Chandler Demski, Jared Murray, and Garrett Neubauer.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday April 17, 2015, with Rev. Larry Douglas officiating followed by burial in Greene County Memorial Park with graveside military honors by American Legion Post 954 and the U.S. Army.
