He was born January 24, 1943 in Waynesburg, a son of the late Charles K. and Carrie Shriver Snyder.
Nelson was a 1961 graduate of Jefferson-Morgan High School.
He then served in the United States Army.
Nelson was an electrician; he worked for West Penn Power for 17 years and the worked for Emerald Coal Company, where he retired.
He grew up attending the Jefferson United Methodist Church.
Nelson was a member of the American Legion and active in the funeral honor guard.
He enjoyed farming, hunting, participating in the Greene County fair with his son and daughter, he played football in high school and enjoyed watching the high school sports teams.
On October 31, 1962 he married, Janet Davis, who survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Pamela Lee Snyder of Bridgeville; a grandson, Jeffrey Bryan Snyder (Tara Fisher) of Jefferson; a great grandson, Kayden Bryan Snyder; a daughter-in-law, Victoria Snyder; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a son, Charles Bryan Snyder; and a sister, Nancy Lee Cariati.
Friends will be received on Sunday, January 7, 2024 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., in the Behm Funeral Home, 1477 Jefferson Rd., Jefferson, PA 15344, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where funeral services will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow in Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson.
