She was born December 15, 1915 in Jefferson, a daughter of the late Dr. Scott J. and Maude Dulany Titus.
Ms. Titus was a 1934 graduate of Jefferson Township High School and had graduated from Waynesburg College. She had gone on to receive her masters degree in history from the University of Colorado and a masters degree in library science from Carnegie Tech.
Ms. Titus had taught school at Claysville High School, Jefferson High School, Penn State-Fayette Campus before going into the United States Navy during WW II.
Upon her return she went into library administration at Enoch Pratt Public Library in Baltimore, MD, the Carnegie Library, University of Cincinnati and retired from Temple University.
She was a charter member of the Filer-Sadlek American Legion Post #954 of Jefferson and was protestant by faith.
Surviving are a brother, John E. Titus of Jefferson; two nieces, Cyndee Scott and her husband Ken of Mars and Jeanne Hockenberry and her husband Dave of Carmichaels; two great nieces, Rachel Hockenberry and Tori Scott and a great-great nephew, Jayden Kerley.
Deceased are two sisters, Ruth J. Titus and Marguerite Titus Brewer; and a brother, Robert E. Titus.
A gathering of friends will be received from 4 to 5 p.m., Saturday, February 11, 2012, in the Behm Funeral Homes, Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, February 11, 2012 in the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Donald P. Wilson officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post #954, Jefferson. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to your favorite charity.
