Born Anna Marie Viscusi on September 4, 1924, she was the oldest of 4 children and the only daughter of Italian immigrants. Her childhood in New Jersey was a happy one and molded by the events that made hers, the Greatest Generation, the Great Depression, World War II and prohibition.
As a young woman, Anna, supported her family and country by working at the Naval Shipyards in NJ. There, she met her future husband, Wallace Hopkins, while he was in the Navy. The two were married shortly thereafter and moved to Sewickley PA, where they raised their 3 sons; Lewis Hopkins, of Sewickley PA, Wallace Hopkins of Crucible PA, and Arnold ‘John’ Hopkins of Rices Landing. The family later moved to Crucible, PA.
Anna, known as Nina to many, was a warm hearted woman who welcomed everyone into her home on one condition, she insisted on feeding them. Visitors would never leave empty handed, often sending them home with the many delicacies and gourmet meals she had prepared fresh from the garden. The memories, teachings and joy that Anna brought to our world will be carried on through the lives of her 3 sons and their families; including her 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren that live across the country.
