Prayers to the family....he was a wonderful teacher ! I still make  the Chinese fried rice dish I made for his class  for my family to this day.

Sending my deepest sympathies to the Dorsey family. I always admired William, he always had a good story to tell and made me laugh more than a few times. It's sad that over the years our families seemed to drift apart. I guess time and distance had a role to play.

Mr. Dorsey was a wonderful role model and teacher. He always had time for his students and made us all feel important. He will forever hold a special place in my heart. It was by his example that I learned the qualities of a good instructor and mentor - and have strived to follow his example as a teacher myself.

Mr. Dorsey was a wonderful teacher.  I will never forget the day he told me an angel must have poked my cheek because of the dimple when I smiled.  It made my day!  I will always remember that!  My condolences to the Dorsey family.

My deepest sympathy and prayers for you all.  He will be missed by all.  He was loved by all whose lives he enriched while teaching civics.  He was one of my favorites.

I will never forget his smile and how he made you feel important. I went into his class thinking it would be boring and he made it anything but boring.
He hounded me for years to play basketball because he saw me steal a basketball from a few guys playing and make THE ONLY shot I was ever good at. I just couldn't convince him that I was terrible at basketball.
He was an amazing person and teacher. He will be missed.

"Go rest high on the mountain" teacher, colleague, outstanding citizen...the WORLD is a better place because of you.  It was a joy in our lives for you to our teacher and then as a colleague of mine as we taught next door to each other for many years.  You always came to my door to share any outstanding current news that was happening in our world.  Thank you for giving to our family your swimming pool of which we continued to use until our children were grown and then we gave it away to bless another family! Mr. Dorsey was also my 9th grade Civics teacher. The one thing that I will always remember besides that smile was him calling out your name and saying "Rise and be recognized" when he was asking you a question in class. My thoughts and prayers go out to you all! He will be sadly missed!

I'm so very sorry for your loss.  Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.  You have my deepest sympathies.

My cousin was one of the funniest people you’d ever meet. I bet he was an amazing history teacher  with all those jokes he could weave in and out of a story he was telling. As kids he would pull us around and around his backyard in a trailer hooked to his lawn mower and as older teenagers we’d sit in the back and hold the next round of little ones as he did if for them. He will be so so missed by his close family. I can’t imagine going to their home and he not being there. I’m so very glad my last time seeing him he was having a good day with his illness and able to keep us laughing. He’s joining now with my Uncle Owen, his wife’s mother’s brother in heaven. Boy those two were a pair when you got them together. Just so very funny. This man was a good Christian family man who served his country and then the children of his county and through the American Legion, veterans in later years. It was hard watching from afar and hearing about all his struggles and what his loving wife and children went through taking care of him. Heaven is a better place this week with his presence there and he’s rejoining many family members who have gone before him. What a happy reunion that must be!  God bless his family at this time. 💗

I was saddened to hear of Mr.Dorey's passing. He was my 9th grade Civics teacher and a very kindhearted patient teacher. I still know the Declaration of Independence, because of him...  Memory Eternal.

Mr Dorsey was my favorite teacher in Jr high  he was funny an fair an always made me laugh. He was a great teachers an a very nice person he was caring to all his students.

Also surviving are granddaughter Samantha Dorsey and her son Maxxen William; step grandchildren, 1st Lieutenant Joshua Wolfe and his  wife Rachel, Michael, Jenna, and her son Ethan, and Katelyn Wolfe; one brother, Thomas of Medina, OH, and many nieces and nephews.  

In addition to his parents, Alva is preceded in death by three sisters, Lorayne Rankin (Barry), Donna Mancini (David), and Delores Devecka (Edward).
