Mr. William Roy O'Rear

William Roy O’Rear, 85, of Jasper, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017, at his residence. The family will receive friends today, April 8, 2017, from 10 until 11 a.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be today, April 8, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the Kilgore-Green Chapel, with burial at Walker Memory Gardens. David Byrd will officiate. O’Rear was preceded in death by his parents, James Albert O’Rear Sr. and Sarah Ann O’Rear; son, Jeffery Steven O’Rear; grandson, Steven Allan O’Rear; brother, James Albert O’Rear Jr.; sister, Mary Elizabeth Sherer (George); and uncle, Foster Dunahoo. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy J. O’Rear; son, Philip M. O’Rear (Ann); granddaughters, Casey O’Rear, Jane O’Rear and Sarah O’Rear; niece and nephews, Patsy and William Earnest, Tarae Tidwell, Donnie Ray Sherer, David Sherer (Barbra), Emma Whelan, Sebastian Whelan, Nichole Burns, Heather Sherer and Thomas Earnest (Beth); and great-nephews, Brooks Earnest and Hunter Earnest. Roy and Dot were married for 64 years. He was a life long member of Northside Baptist Church. He was employed by Dupont Company, Alabama By Products Corporation and Drummond Company, retiring in 1996. He loved golf, Alabama Football and his dog, Jack.
