Family will be receiving friends on Friday, December 7, 2018, from 1 until 2 p.m., at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., in the Kilgore-Green Chapel, with burial at Walker Memory Gardens. Richard Handley will officiate.
Joe was a member of Saragossa Nazarene Church. He was a member of the 168th Infantry Regiment. He served in conflict in Italy and War World II, advancing to the Rank of Major upon his separation from the Army. Joe served as Superintendent of Walker County Board of Education for 16 years. He will be missed by many.
He was preceded by his wife of 66 years, Lois Gail Cunningham; parents, Robert Edward Cunningham and Nora Philips Cunningham.
He is survived by his son, Danny Joe Cunningham; daughter, Robin Cunningham; granddaughter, Scarlett Cunningham and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
